The Samueli School’s emphasis on experiential learning is attracting high-achieving students who want more than a classroom experience. By coupling engineering science-based training with a tactical understanding of how to solve real problems, we actually produce better engineers. That is why new programs, spaces and opportunities devoted to student projects is integral to our continued success. The Student Innovation Initiative will not only house these cutting-edge projects, but also provide a space for hands-on learning opportunities.
Held by our most distinguished professors, endowed chairs are vanguards of research and education. Endowing a chair honors and recognizes exceptional faculty, while alleviating the budgetary constraints associated with attracting top talent. As the school continues to hire enterprising researchers, adding to our already well-established faculty ranks, UCI engineering is poised to reach even greater heights.
In pursuit of novel solutions, Anteater engineers are imagining the impossible. Through endowed research support, our faculty and students will continue to pursue groundbreaking efforts that are timely, impactful and socially responsible. Building on a strong foundation of fundamental engineering disciplines, we have identified four thrust areas to address today’s global complexity: communications and information technology, energy and sustainability, human health, and advanced manufacturing and materials.
