School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences

The UCI School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences encompasses two departments: Pharmaceutical Sciences and Clinical Pharmacy Practice.

Offering undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees, the UCI School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences spans a continuum from discovery, development, and delivery of new drugs, devices, and diagnostics all the way to optimizing medication therapy in patients and patient populations.

Funding Priorities

STUDENT SUCCESS

Continue delivering a student-centered, dynamic curriculum that builds students’ skills and knowledge and promotes personal development, positioning students to succeed in careers that advance science and improve the health and well-being of our communities. Endowed scholarships and fellowships for our B.S., M.S., Ph.D., and Pharm.D. programs would further energize our student base and help recruit and educate tomorrow’s diverse and talented pharmaceutical scientists and pharmacists.

ENDOWED CHAIRS: ADVANCING TRANSFORMATIONAL SOLUTIONS IN DRUG DISCOVERY & MEDICATION UTILIZATION IN THE REAL WORLD

Endowed chairs attract and retain premier scholars and researchers by offering funding that can augment salary, flexible sources of research spending, and graduate student funding. As one of the highest honors a professor can achieve, endowed chairs help expand capacity for faculty who truly excel as researchers and scholar-teachers.

SPACE

Wet lab space is the rate limiting factor for the school to grow its impact on transformational innovations in drug discovery and realize its rightful ranking alongside other research-intensive U.S. pharmacy schools. New wet lab space will accommodate our rapidly advancing fields of scientific study that span a wide range of new treatment and prevention modalities including small molecule, biologics, gene therapy, and cell therapy. The school requires ~30,000 assignable square feet of laboratory space to accommodate our growth target. Expanding our current physical capacity is necessary for us to recruit and retain premier students and faculty and will allow our current physical footprint to be more efficiently functional, interactive, and interdisciplinary to realize our potential. Ideally, we would like to co-locate all School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty in contiguous or adjacent space to provide a home for the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences which promotes collaboration and a collegial school culture.

FACULTY RESEARCH

corporate and foundation grants to further research that will transform Drug Discovery & Medication Utilization in the Real World Research grants allow faculty to elevate scientific discovery without the constraints of limited funding streams and allow faculty an opportunity to take their research to new levels.
